SOUTHBURY — The Watermark at East Hill retirement community has announced that 10-yearold Maya Murray, of Torrington, has been named the community’s fourth “Watermark Kid.”

Watermark for Kids is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Watermark Retirement Communities. The organization empowers children to build character, strengthen their leadership skills and express their creativity, compassion and spirit.

Watermark residents and associates select a young man or woman from the community at-large and a Watermark resident or associate then serves as a “Watermark Coach” for the youth. Murray’s coach was Annarita DiFiore, controller at The Watermark.

Through Watermark for Kids, Murray was provided with a new riding helmet, boots and riding lessons at Lee’s Riding Stable in Litchfield.

The Watermark at East Hill launched its local chapter of Watermark for Kids in 2010. Since then, children from New Milford, Waterbury and Newtown have been named “Watermark Kids.”
