Seven Connecticut towns – Colchester, New Hartford, Marlborough, Hebron, Bolton, Morris, and Vernon – have joined more than 100 others in joining the state’s Clean Energy Communities program.
In the program run by Energize Connecticut through the state utilities, towns pledge to reduce their municipal energy consumption 20 percent and attain 20 percent of their electric needs from renewable sources by 2018.
Depending on their success and individual residents partaking in programs, towns can earn grants up to $15,000 for an energy saving project.
