The Energize South Windsor campaign designed to save residents energy and money will launch officially on July 1.

The campaign will include educational events where residents can purchase energy efficient light bulbs. There will be a workshop on how residents can sign up for the state’s Home Energy Solutions program, which offers a comprehensive look and adjustment to residential energy use.

South Windsor is one of the 100 Connecticut communities to have pledged to reduce municipal building energy consumption by 20 percent by 2018 and buy 20 percent of its municipal electricity needs from renewable sources by 2018.

Based on how many residents and businesses participate in these programs, South Windsor can earn a $10,000 grant to use toward a community energy-savings project.
