C.H. Nickerson & Co., Torrington, Conn., recently donated $2,500 to the Housatonic Valley Association, an organization that works to protect 2,000 sq miles of land and water throughout the Housatonic River Valley. The river’s watershed covers 1,498 sq miles and includes hundreds of rivers and streams throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York, according to C.H. Nickerson & Co.
The company was honored along with four other firms at a reception at the headquarters of Aquarion Water Co. in Bridgeport, Conn. The other companies that made donations were Burns Construction, Stratford, Conn.; H.D. Supply Waterworks, Bridgeport and New Britain, Conn.; J.J. Brennan Construction, Shelton, Conn.; and Tighe & Bond Engineers, Westfield, Mass.
Aquarion Water matched each of the firms’ donations, bringing the total donation to $25,000.
