Aquarion Water, based in Bridgeport, announced winners of the fourth annual Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards.
Winning entries were Large Business: United Technologies, Hartford, a $2,500 grant to an environmental non-profit of its choice; Small Business: Tara Farm Rescue, Coventry, a $2,500 grant to an environmental nonprofit of its choice; Nonprofit: Connecticut River Watershed Council, Middletown, Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Fall’s Village, environmental science class, a $2,500 grant; Adult: Laurie Doss, Kent, a $2,500 grant to an environmental nonprofit of her choice; and Student: Anuj Sisodiya, Trumbull High School, $1,000 award.
The award ceremony was part of the 2014 Wild Wine, Beer and Food Safari, the Beardsley Zoo‘s annual fundraising event. A panel of independent judges was headed by John Herlihy, Aquarion’s vice resident of water quality and environmental management.
