HOLYOKE, Mass. (WGGB) — Mass Mentoring Partnership accepted $50,000 tonight from the First Niagara Foundation.

The MMP organization is involved with several mentoring programs around the area.

They launched the Dean Technical High School Career Pathways program which matches high school students with employees at Holyoke Health Center.   They also run a reading program where college students pair with local kids.

“We try to bring the book down to an enjoyable level for them, help them find something to latch onto. Help them see reading doesn’t need to be this really, really difficult thing, it can be fun!” explains Sylvia Ngo, mentor and student at Amherst College.

Representatives from First Niagara Bank were in Holyoke to present the check in front of MMP staff, volunteers and elected officials.
